[Getting started on DO] Part 1 of 8: Accessing your Droplet

Welcome! As you start setting up, we want to help you make the most of your DigitalOcean resources.

Over the next two weeks we will send a series of eight emails, each with a few recommended steps to help you succeed on DO.

When you spin up a Basic droplet you have the choice of three different options; Regular Intel, Premium Intel and Premium AMD. Premium Droplets are guaranteed to utilize some of the newest CPUs we have in our fleet and they feature enhanced memory performance.

You could manage your Droplets using password-based logins, but we strongly recommend using SSH key pairs, which are very secure.

When creating a new Droplet, take some essential steps

as part of the basic setup: Configure a regular, non-root user

with sudo privileges on your server.
